The hugely successful scheme, which was run by up to 20 local volunteers, was commended in the Community Project of the Year category at an event hosted by the Notts FA last month.

The Wildcats programme, which ran in Beeston for the first time, laid the foundations for girls’ football in the town and last week the club launched four female teams at u7, u9, u11 and u13, supported by seven new coaches.

In week one, we had nine girls in each age category and as the numbers grow we will enter teams into local leagues for those girls who want to play competitively.
