Beeston sports clubs, councillors and residents pledge support

Beeston FC hosted sports clubs, councillors and local residents at Trent Vale as we step up our efforts to secure £500,000 of funding for the clubhouse redevelopment.

The event, organised by parents on the club’s fundraising committee, was aimed at finding potential partners to use the site and open up new funding sources.

Guests sipped Pimms and ate cream teas on a glorious evening at Trent Vale.

Sarah Green, whose son plays for Beeston FC under 9s and whose daughter takes part in Beeston Wildcats, said: “It was a great success. We started conversations with a number of groups and explained our plans to residents. There was a lot of enthusiasm for what we are doing.”

Beeston FC is already talking to Nottinghamshire FA and the Football Foundation about funding, and we meet with Sport England next week.

Our plans have been drawn up by Beeston architect Julian Owen. They include four changing rooms, large function room, kitchen, a receptions area, ‘veranda’ and disability access.

However, we will need to raise additional money if we are to succeed. In addition, finding partners who want to use the site could open up new opportunities for Beeston FC, other clubs and the community.

One potential use could be community activities and events in the function room.

The soiree at Trent Vale included Beeston Cycling Club, Beeston Athletics Club, Attenborough Cricket Club, Trent Vale Squash Club, councillors Teresa Cullen, Dawn Elliott and Kate Foale, as well as some residents, who responded to leaflets delivered to houses on neighbouring streets.
