One year ago, Beeston FC launched its first girls’ football programme when the club set up a Wildcats scheme with Notts FA.

It proved a great success with around 50 girls joining the club and playing through the summer and winter.

Now, Beeston FC is about to launch a new Wildcats scheme to attract more players of all abilities. Beginning on Monday April 1 the scheme will run for 16 weeks. (Details below)

And last year’s crop of under 9s have been offering encouragement to any Beeston girls who would like to give football a go.

Eleanor said: “Ever since I started playing football at Beeston FC, I have enjoyed it more and more every week. The coach is really good, he has helped me develop my skills. It’s great to be part of a team.”

It can be a bit scary starting something new, but the girls said they have all been made to feel really welcome. The aim is to have fun.

Jess said: “‘When I first came to train with Beeston FC, I was nervous, but everyone was really friendly. I love learning new skills here and being part of this team!”

Evie added: "Beeston FC is a kind community where people can come together and play football."

In fact, the girls have found that football gives them a whole new set of friends.
Sisters Natalie and Lucy said: “We really enjoy playing as a team and getting to know new people and having fun together.”

And Sofia said: "Beeston FC is the first team I ever been to because the only time I play football is at school with my friends but now I get to get more friends in my football team.”

Qualified FA coaches will run the Wildcats’ sessions, which will be held at Trent Vale Recreation Ground, Trent Vale Road, Beeston Rylands, NG9 1ND.

The sessions cost £3 each. Make sure you reserve a place, but once enrolled girls can turn up and play whenever they like. Sessions will be held at the following times on Mondays, from April 1:

Under 7s (Foundation, Years 1 &2): 5.30pm
Under 9s (Years 3 & 4): 6pm
Under 11s (Years 5 &6): 6pm
Under 13s (Years 7 & 8): 6.30pm
