Beeston girls go through to second round of the cup

We are so proud of the girls
- Ann Marie Carroll

Coaches and parents were wowed by the performance of the Beeston FC u13 girls after their first competitive match.

The girls were up against Huthwaite in the first round of the Nottinghamshire Girls’ League Cup plate competition and secured a fantastic win to take them through to the next round.

Coach and parent-volunteer Ann Marie Carroll said: “It was fantastic. We are so proud of them. The girls did so well. They work so hard in training and it was brilliant to see them do it on the pitch.”

Ann Marie also praised the support from parents, who turned out in force to put up and take down the equipment, run the line and assist with coaching duties, despite the wet and cold conditions.

“It was a great team effort,” she said. "And the best thing was the girls played with a smile on their faces and there were some excellent performances."

The Beeston girls played their first proper friendly last week against Nottingham Forest Ladies u13. Despite being up against a very good side in that game the girls stick to their task and that stood them in good stead this week.

“We were so grateful to Forest for the friendly,” said Ann Marie. “It showed the girls the level of competition and they have certainly risen to the challenge.”

The Huthwaite girls played very well in a tight match at Trent Vale. The teams were level at half time but Beeston edged it in the second half.

Well done girls.
