Would your daughter like to try football?

Girls aged 4 to 13 have a chance to try football at a FA Wildcats scheme in Beeston.

The girls-only sessions begin on April 1 at Beeston FC and will run on Monday evenings for 16 weeks.

Qualified FA coaches will run the sessions, which will be held at Trent Vale Recreation Ground, Trent Vale Road, Beeston Rylands, NG9 1ND.

Organiser Charles Walker, a coach at Beeston FC, said: “This is a great chance for girls to give football a go. All abilities are welcome, from absolute beginners to those who have played before. Our focus is on fun as much as football!”

The sessions cost £3 each. Make sure you reserve a place, but once enrolled girls can turn up and play whenever they like. Sessions will be held at the following times on Mondays, from April 1:

Under 7s (Foundation, Years 1 &2): 5.30pm

Under 9s (Years 3 & 4): 6pm

Under 11s (Years 5 &6): 6pm

Under 13s (Years 7 & 8): 6.30pm

No need for football boots or kit, girls are welcome to come along in trainers and sports clothing.

Wildcats is an FA scheme to encourage girls to play football. Clubs across the country apply to become a Wildcats’ centre and they are selected by FA staff in each region. Beeston FC is the accredited centre in our area.

It is the second year Beeston FC has hosted a Wildcats programme. Last year, more than 50 girls took part and most of them still play with Beeston FC.
