Beeston u10 Orange showed brilliant spirit to battle their way back into a tight match with Toton Tornados.
The Beeston boys quickly found themselves two-nil down.
Orange, who struggled to cope with the Toton midfield and a quick, talented striker, found it hard to break out of their own half in the first ten minutes.
Kyle, in goal, was called on to make some super saves to keep Beeston in the game.
At that stage Orange could easily have let in more goals. But gradually Beeston began to match a determined Toton side and edge their way up the pitch.
It was great credit to the boys that they fought their way into the game and they could have nicked a goal before half-time.
In the second half they played very well. Daniel and William had their hands full to contain the Toton attack but they stuck at it manfully and limited the Tornados to just a few shots. In front of them Zak, TJ, Ibrahim, Ollie and Kai worked tirelessly, encouraging each other and pushing the team forwards.
Will did well to gather the ball as Orange continued to clear it and he gave the boys a base from which to build.
The passes started to flow. Beeston scored midway through the half after a fantastic run by Ibrahim. They pushed for the equaliser. The Toton keeper made some good saves and Orange won a flurry of corners at the end, but they couldn’t quite force the ball home.
Despite the result, Beeston put in a very good performance and showed fighting qualities that will help them win many more games in the future.
