Orange struggle against good Stapleford side

Beeston u10 Orange found it hard going away to Stapleford Town Black.

The boys fell behind early in the first half and struggled to find an answer to Black’s strong performance for the first 25 minutes.

Stabbo were well ahead by half-time, but the Beeston boys deserve huge credit for how they adapted in the second half, never letting their heads drop.

The lads were up against a good side, which moved the ball forward quickly and were strong and determined in their running and tackling. They could shoot, too.

However, in the second 25 minutes Beeston kept with the runners, got some tackles in and even began to push Black back.

Led by a spirited display in the centre of midfield by Will, who deserves great credit for his positive attitude throughout, Beeston scored three good goals in the second 25 minutes with Ibrahim bagging the lot.

Even so there was plenty of incoming and Kyle made some super saves. He put in an excellent shot-stopping performance.

The lads have done fantastically well during the past year, runners up in one league and winning another. They have gone up three divisions in the process.

Today, they came up against opponents on top of their game and it was tough. But we have to play good teams, even teams better than us, to progress.

There are lots of positives to take from the game and a few things we can learn, which we can work at in training, but overall we are all proud of the boys for sticking at it, supporting each other and battling back.
