It has been a disappointing start to the season for Beeston, but Adam Kemp's brace helped the oranges to their first 3 points of the season. Josh Streeter's side went into the game with no win in the opening three games. Streeter had a full strength squad to pick from and handed a full debut to defender Ross Marriott and also welcomed back Jack Wilkinson to the starting 11.
Kirton had the first chance of the opening half as Kyle Clarkson let fly from 20 yards but was denied by a fantastic save from goalkeeper Matt Hyde. After the early scare Beeston started to get into the game and in the 26th minute Beeston took the lead. Bright Agana burst down the right into the box, pulled the ball pack brilliantly for Kemp to fire home from 6 yards.
The lead didn't last long as Kirton straight from the kick off won a corner and from the resulting set piece a free header at the front post from Luke Boddy made it 1-1.
Beeston didn't let the quick response bother them as they worked a way back into the game. Agana look almost certain to score from six yards out but Kirton keeper Perry Cranston denied him at point blank range with a fantastic save.
Five minutes before the break Beeston managed to re take the lead. After winning the ball back in midfield Ben Knight play a perfect diagonal ball into the feet of Kemp. Kemp then turned the Kirton right back inside out before releasing a rasping 25 yard effort into the bottom corner.
Half Time 2-1
The first chance of the second half fell to Beeston as Agana went through one on one with the keeper but was denied by a good save, the ball rebounding to Jay Stonley who scuffed his shot wide.
Ten minutes into the second half, Kirton striker Jamie Charlton was sent through on goal from just inside the Beeston half. Beeston centre back Shaun Turney brought Charlton down, resulting in just a yellow card from referee Dibbs. The Kirton bench were in uproar as they felt Turney should have seen red, but in the eyes of Dibbs it was deemed just yellow.
It was soon to be 3-1. Knight drove into the area only for the centre back to get a toe in, and the ball kindly fell to Stonley. He twinkled around the defender on the edge of the area and sent a curling effort into the roof of the net.
Kirton tried to find a way back into the game but Hyde in the Beeston goal pulled off two fantastic saves. First he denied Charlton one on one and then pulled off a brilliant stop to keep out Clarkson again from distance.
Deep into stoppage time Kirton did pull one back as a scramble in the box saw Boddy knock in for his second of the game. It wasn't enough however, as Beeston held on for all three points.
