After spending the past two seasons playing in Russia and Malaysia, striker Lee Fowler re-joins the club. Fowler’s time abroad included a spell at Malaysian expat side Bandar Utama Lions, where he won the teams golden boot award. Before departing abroad, Fowler scored 38 goals as Beeston were crowned NAA Premier Champions in 2016/17, and so returns to familiar surroundings at Beeston FC!
Beeston FC are also delighted to announce that the widely coveted Nick Knight has committed to Beeston FC for the coming season. The versatile defender and midfielder was in high demand across the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, however Beeston have fought off potential suitors to secure him for a second season running.
Joining from last seasons U18’s squad are highly rated youngsters David Dambino, and brothers Elliot and Aaron Ridley. All three have turned out for Beeston youth teams over the past three years under the guidance of first team head coach Steve Hyde and now make the step up to the first team.
Versatile left-sided player Keiron Fisher joins after spells at Ilkeston Academy and Long Eaton United Academy. Fisher is an attacking winger and wing-back with great delivery from wide areas and adds great strength in depth to the Beeston squad.
Towering centre-back Dane Wakefield and Goalkeeper Adam Hingeley also join Beeston for the coming season. Wakefield signs having been unattached last season, whilst Hingeley joins after spells at Burton Colts, Dunkirk FC and the Derby County Shadow Squad.
After securing a magnificent eight players for the coming season, this is what Beeston FC first-team manager Josh Streeter had to say:
“I think these signings provide a massive boost for the club, attracting new players is always difficult at this level but it shows we’re heading in the right direction and hopefully it will be a rewarding season”
And on fighting off numerous clubs to secure Nick Knight for another season:
“Nick’s a good player and naturally wants to play as high as he can so for him to choose to play for us means we must be doing something right”
“Either that or Spud’s giving him extra work!”
After seeing three of last year’s U18’s squad make the step to first-team level, Head Coach Steve Hyde shared his optimism for the future and the importance the club places on youth development:
“Our Development team was specifically created to give young players from the youth teams the chance to step up to adult football.”
“We have two U18 teams and an U17 team, some of whose players will be wanting to make that step up in the next year or two, and we want to create an environment in which they can do so.”
A big welcome to Beeston FC to all of our new signings!
