After last week’s difficult defeat at AFC Top Valley, Beeston FC return this Saturday to face Radcliffe Olympic at Wharf Lane Recreation Ground.
Radcliffe currently sit level on points with Beeston in the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League One, albeit having played two more games, and are without a win since their opening day victory over Radford Reserves.
The two sides last met in February, with Radcliffe running out 2-1 winners after Roland Tomlinson’s late goal proved only to be a consolation. In the reverse fixture last season, Beeston sealed all three points in a nine-goal thriller at Leyton Crescent almost a year ago.
Beeston will be looking to kick-start their promotion campaign after a run of three games without a win, but will be buoyed by their consistently strong performances that haven’t yielded the results they deserve.
This is what Beeston Head Coach and Vice Chairman Steve Hyde had to say ahead of Saturday’s fixture:
“The last game against Radcliffe was difficult for both teams due to weather conditions, with rain and strong winds affecting both teams, and Radcliffe were able to adapt their game a little better than we were.”
“We need to take the spirit that saw us beat them 5-4 earlier last season, and couple that with how we performed for 85 minutes against Top Valley last week."
Manager Josh Streeter expressed his belief in the group after a tricky few weeks:
"I think if we play the way we did against Top Valley we stand a good chance of taking something from the game. They're a good side but hopefully this is the game we get up and running and the goals start flowing."
