Beeston FC travel to current league leaders Ravenshead on Saturday looking to climb the table after some promising performances in recent weeks.
Last Saturday, Dan Rowley’s 80th minute strike gave Beeston a deserved 1-1 draw at home to Stapleford Town Reserves.
Beeston’s opponents have started the season in style, winning six of their opening eight fixtures and scoring 21 goals in the process. Last time out, Mark Yate’s header ten minutes from time gave Ravenshead a point against a difficult Radcliffe Olympic side as they continued their strong start to the season. Beeston will have to look out for league top scorer Martin McDonagh, who has bagged 12 goals in just 7 appearances so far this season.
Despite not having the points to show for it, Beeston will be buoyed by recent strong performances that Manager Josh Streeter said showed the fighting spirit in the camp:
“I think last week showed we can keep fighting until the end of games but we need to concentrate more. We played some great football, but the end product was lacking last week and hopefully this week we can rectify that.”
“Ravenshead have always been a good side and they’ve got on or two players who we know about, but I think we’re good enough to deal with those threats. If we play our way, I’m confident we can pick up points.”
