Beeston FC suffered their first defeat in the league this season, losing 8-2 to Radford Reserves.

Beeston FC suffered their first defeat in the league this season, losing 8-2 to Radford Reserves. This result means that Beeston drop from top of the league to 3rd place.

It was a shaky start for Beeston, with Radford Reserves having their first effort on goal in the 9th minute. Their winger was played in on the left and his effort just skimmed the far post. However, Beeston fought back straight away with a long ball to Ireson who flicked it on to Coupe, who latched on and had a go, but he hit the post!

Beeston had their first breakthrough in the 19th minute through Tom Coupe. It was yet again another combination between Coupe and Ireson, with Ireson playing Coupe into the box who found the bottom right-hand corner of the net to make it 1-0.

Less than 6 minutes later, Tom Coupe had his second, and it was an unbelievable goal! A long ball was played over the top and the keeper came out to try and retrieve it, but Coupe got their first and lobbed it over the keeper into the back of the net to double Beeston’s lead.

However, just before half-time, Radford hit back with two goals in the space of 3 minutes. The first came in the 38th minute and it was an own goal from Beeston following a Radford free-kick at the edge of the six-yard box. Just 3 minutes later, Radford drew level with the Radford player cutting in from the right and bending it into the far corner. At half time, it was all square.

Beeston started the second half brightly, Knight swung in a dangerous free kick from the right which Caron met at the back-post but he fired just over. Despite, starting the half brightly, Radford were the team to take the lead after their centre-forward swivelled on the edge of the box and smashed it home.

Radford then went onto score their 4th and 5th goals in quick succession with the latter involving their winger scoring from outside the box. Radford scored twice in the 86th minute and then again in the 89th, securing a decisive 8-2 win against Beeston.
